For this BuildHom Floating Nightstand, I found it easy to assemble, the pieces and parts are well packaged and numbered, and it is sturdy. However, it is really small in size. The installation requires using your own wall anchors, as the provided ones are not good. In general, you need to mount one mounting hole to a stud while using the anchor for the other (they are 10″ separated, and in Canada, the studs typically are 12″-16″ separated).

This small wood grain nightside table with a built-in power bar and a uniquely textured drawer is a cute, versatile, and functional side table that can be mounted onto the wall or placed on top of existing side tables, dressers, etc.The wood grain is attractive, modern, and looks nice in various settings/interior designs. The finish is sleek and smooth; it isn’t bumpy, rough, or scratchy, and it doesn’t have any splintering areas. I also like the wavy linear texture/design on the pull-out drawer – it is subtle but isn’t something I have seen before, giving the stand a unique feature that isn’t cookie-cutter.I love the built-in power bar on the top – it is great for phone, tablet, and laptop chargers, as well as bedside lamps, clocks, etc., eliminating the need to use an extension cord beside my bed.However, one major issue I had with this side table was encountered while assembling it. First off, it requires a significant amount of assembly with >10 wood pieces and over 30 screws and tools – so it takes some time and effort to set it up. Secondly, among the first 3 steps, 1 of the side wood panels had several misaligned/misplaced holes requiring me to either drill the correct holes (which unfortunately wasn’t possible as I didn’t have our drill with me), or manually screw in new holes in the correct location so the panel would connect to the other pieces. This resulted in a slightly lopsided/uneven alignment of the sides, took me 4x as long as it should’ve, and the one side of the stand wouldn’t connect flushly, so there are some gaps visible – though it is still quite sturdy, surprisingly.

I recently added the BuildHom Floating Nightstand to my bedroom, and I couldn’t be happier! This modern nightstand not only looks great with its fluted drawer design, but it also offers a perfect blend of style and functionality.Installation was a easy—everything I needed was included, and I had it mounted in no time. The floating design gives my room a sleek, contemporary feel. I love how it creates an illusion of more space, making my bedroom feel larger and more open.The drawer glides smoothly, and the quality of the wood is impressive; it feels sturdy and well-made.Overall, the BuildHom Floating Nightstand has exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend giving this one a try!

This nightstand has a sturdy build quality once assembled. The panels are the MDF with laminate with wood look and walnut colour. The drawer door however has a much nicer finish with a beautiful fluted design, giving it a more contemporary design that just a flat front. I would have liked the entire nightstand to be made like the door, but then it wouldn’t be an affordable price. You do have the mount this nightstand but I would make use of your own heavy duty drywall anchors and have one screw in a stud, if possible. The anchors and screws provided just aren’t very good. You can install feet on this night stand if you wanted it to be freestanding as the front corners on the bottom doesn’t have a flat surface to mount feet. The drawer opens and closes smoothly but is not a soft close. I may tried to find soft close hardware to work with this drawer. The top power bar is a functional and useful design and allows you to charge your phone or plug in a lamp.

I really like the look of this floating nightstand. The wood grain is attractive and the fluted drawer front gives it a high-end feel. Unfortunately, there are a few design issues that prevent it from being a perfect piece.First, there’s a noticeable gap on the right side of the drawer that shouldn’t be there. Everything is assembled tightly and level, so it’s clearly a design flaw rather than user error.Mounting it was also a bit of a hassle. The stand is quite heavy and definitely should be anchored into studs, but the two pre-drilled holes are only 10 inches apart, too close together to catch two studs in standard framing. I ended up drilling an extra hole in the bottom to secure it better, with two screws into one stud and one into a drywall anchor. It’s solid now, but it would have been much easier if the design had allowed for more widely spaced mounting points.The included hardware was another letdown, the screws stripped way too easily. I swapped them out for some better quality construction screws I had on hand. If you don’t have extras, be careful when installing, the included screws are very soft.One feature I do love is the built-in power bar with two outlets and two USB-A ports. It’s super convenient, but the placement could definitely be safer. The outlets face straight up, so if you accidentally spill a drink on your nightstand, it could cause a short or worse. These outlets aren’t GFCI protected either, so there’s real potential for risk. Mounting them on the back or at an angle would be a much safer design choice.Overall, I like the nightstand and think the price is fair for the look and function. But these design flaws, especially in mounting and power safety, keep it from being a five-star product. Worth considering if you’re willing to do a bit of modification.
