Fellowes Under-desk Key Board – My Must-Read Review
This is a very good product. It’s sturdy and is very adjustable. The mouse pad can be installed or not and it slides under the main keyboard tray when not in use or to push the keyboard tray under the desk. For those you wondering whether this will fit under your desk the keyboard tray measures 20.5″ with the mousepad slid underneath. The keyboard will rotate left to right just by moving it. Also you can adjust it up and down using the adjustment screw knob.I will save you a lot of headache with installation. Don’t screw around with the template provided by Fellowes that directs you to install this keyboard tray crouched underneath your desk. Bad idea. I work very slowly and methodically and from the time I had all the parts laid out for installation and read over the instructions several times, it took me 15 to 20 minutes max to install. And that includes making all measurements three times before I start drilling the holes. I did this by first flipping the desk upside down so I didn’t have to stand on my head while measuring and installing this keyboard. Yes, it took me as much time to pull all the desk drawers out and got help flipping the wooded desk upside down. The benefit is that you can place the metal track EXACTLY where you want it and drill right through the actual holes in the tray for a PERFECT installation.IMPORTATN NOTE. If you want the keyboard to be flush with the front of your desk DO NOT follow the instructions/template to “align Line X 7/8″ from the front of the desk.” If you follow my installation instructions, I placed the front of the metal track that attaches to the underside of the desk exactly 2.5″ from the front of the desk. Pushed all the way in, the keyboard tray is just flush (with 1/16″ to spare) with the front of the desk. From the front of the desk to the back of the metal track is 20″. If your desk is not that deep, then you may a have a problem using this keyboard tray.I use an ergonomic keyboard that sits just under 2″ tall. Works fine. I did not find a need to install the gel wrist rest. There would not be enough room front to back on the main keyboard tray if you want to use it without the ergonomic keyboard hanging off the front of the keyboard. Finally I saved about 13% or ten bucks by purchasing this USED-LIKE NEW from seller Amazon. I saw no scratches or anything that was broken. My biggest concern was missing hardware. Which ultimately turned out to the case. I was missing two of the “M5 Lock Washers.” I have a lot of hardware in the garage and this standard lock-washer only took me 2 minutes to locate so it was worth the ten-dollars to me. If I had to drive 30 minutes to Lowes, I likely would have knocked a star off. Your call on whether it is work that risk.

    Great Keyboard Tray
Great keyboard/mouse management for the price. I got this to replace a plastic drawer/tray and sliding mousepad. After about 1 year of average use, the plastic holding the tray to the desk and the sliding arms to the tray both broke. I was looking for something more sturdy that didn’t cost a fortune. This is it. The installation is simple and the construction is very sturdy. There is a central slide/tilt mechanism that is very adjustable and tightens down easily to hold the keyboard at a specific angle. the mouse pad swings stiffly but smoothly in place and then pivots back under the keyboard. The included rests for both the mouse and the keyboard are comfortable. If you are a heavy user and tend to pound on the keyboard (gaming frustration?) or have little ones that get access to your computer, or at least the keyboard, you might want to invest extra (a lot!) cash on an industrial strength model. Otherwise, this one seems to hold up well, even when our son (4) abuses it occasionally. Definitely do not spend money for the $20 or more plastic models or you will be buying another one in less than a year.3 minor annoyances: 1. The wrist rests and mousing surface do not really have adhesive and stay in place largely due to surface friction. You will probably want to use some double faced tape to fix this; 2. the desk to which ours is attached is not wide enough allow the keyboard and mouse to slide underneath without folding the mouse pad. While the pad and wrist wrest fits under the keyboard w/o issue, there is no place to put the mouse except on the desk or on top of your keyboard; 3. there are no guides or raised edges on the keyboard or mouse trays, so if you are not careful it is possible to accidentally knock or slide them off the platform.Overall, very good product. I would recommend it over plastic models and in most cases over any of the more expensive or industrial strength models, which are probably overkill for most people. I will/would buy this again.

    I love this keyboard tray…
I write software for a living and am typing all day. This keyboard tray is the best one I have found. It is very adjustable, includes support for a mouse, and is well made. It allows me to type with my arms at a downward slant and saves me from repetative stress problems.I have purchased several of them for different places I have worked, and highly recommend it.A couple of things to be aware of:1. It is not incredibly easy to install, but once I got it mounted it is more sturdy than anything else I have found.2. If you have a large keyboard with a dedicated number pad, you may want to mount the keyboard tray off center so that the center of your letters is centered on your desk.3. The keyboard tray comes with wrist pads for the mouse and keyboard that stick on with double sided tape. The pad eventually breaks up and flakes away. Don’t even bother attaching it. Best ergonomic practices dictate that you don’t wrest your wrist on anything while you are typing anyway.
