… of the reviews I read for this product were terrible and I almost did not buy it
Some of the reviews I read for this product were terrible and I almost did not buy it. I also saved the box because I was sure I would need to return it. But let me tell you what I found out. This is a very nice, well-built and well-engineered product. The directions are very bad and you might need some basic mechanical skills to install it properly.Opening the box I noticed the sticker that tells the user how to open it and how high it is elevated had come detached and was stuck to the packaging material. I was very disappointed and thought perhaps I should send it back. But then I noticed the very heavy duty 14 or 12 gage wrinkle finish C-chanal adjustable pedestal arm. It is massive and is impressively heavy. Then I removed the glossy finish track and noticed how smooth and quiet the two pieces worked together. Then I opened the box that contained the keyboard rest. It is large (the none expandable one, Standard) and more than big enough for a full-size keyboard with ten key and a mouse pad on the side. All the parts were impressive including the mounting screws, so I decided to install it.I installed it under a desk drawer. So I needed to make my own mounting platform. I went to the local steel supply warehouse and bought a 24-foot long piece of 1″ X 2″ rectangular 14-gage tubing. I cut two pieces 26 inches long, drilled holes were I needed them cleaned off the dirt and grease ground off the sharp edges and painted them. I installed the parts I made and then installed the keyboard tray track to them. It took some time but it was worth it. It is rock solid. Many of you will not have this problem but I wanted to keep the drawer.Next just let me say again, it is big.Look!!!It works well but here is a trick! To get it to go up just lift up on the front edge and pull up! Easy! But, to get it to go down, lift up on the front end and push down. If that was in the directions I did not see it. If you do this it will work well I promise. To all the naysayers! This is not junk!! But it might be more than you can handle of all you can do is hang a picture, don’t try it. For most people this will be easy.

    Not worth the premium price
For $260 you would think you could swivel it left or right….nopeFor $260 you would think you could lock it in place so it doesn’t move if you rest your arms on it… nope, the knob only controls the tilting so be ready for it to slide under the desk when you don’t want it to.It also takes more effort than it should to raise and lower it.Previous 3M keyboard trays I’ve used had the wrist pad designed where it fit over a plastic lip so it wouldn’t move. This just wants you to use double sided sticky tape. The included tape was only tacky and doesn’t hold the pad firmly in place. The entire frame underneath the board wobbles.I wouldn’t be happy for even half the price, it’s probably going to be thrown away.

    Sit down, stand up!
I’m typing this review with the keyboard at “standing” position, elevated 8″ above the top surface of me desk (or 10″ above the bottom surface of my desk). Now all I need is a monitor arm to be able to lift my monitor to standing height. Who needs one of those fancy motorized “standing desks” when you can just go with this keyboard tray and a monitor arm!The keyboard tray was well packaged and shipped securely in heavy-duty corrugated cardboard boxes. I prefer having a simple flat panel to arrange my Apple full-size keyboard and trackpad on, rather than the higher-spec version of this tray with the floating “mouse tray.” There is enough room for the Apple keyboard and trackpad to have about 1.5-2″ gap between them, so I don’t inadvertently touch the trackpad while using the numeric keypad on the keyboard. If you are a mouse user, a self-stick “precision mouse pad” is included. 3M mourning tape is provided to stick your keyboard / trackpad down more permanently, which may be useful if you like an inclined surface.Included in the box were the keyboard tray (some sort of plastic coated MDF with gentle curves from and back), the articulated keyboard lift, and the sliding rail. Also included were a urethane-covered gel wrist rest and four cable-management clips with 3M “Command” easy-release mounts. If you are using a wireless keyboard / mouse / trackpad, you won’t need to worry about routing wires. If you do have a wired keyboard, you may need to consider adding a USB extension cable to your order if you don’t already have one (Apple keyboards conveniently come with one).Mounting the heavy duty rail to the underside of my IKEA desk was a bit of a challenge. A template is provided, and it is recommended to offset the front of the rail 1/4 – 1/2″ back from the front edge of the desk. The reason is to allow the keyboard tray to fully slide under the desk when not in use. 1/2″ is better, but no further back, or you won’t have clearance to use the standing position. My IKEA desk has a hollow core top (torsion box design). That means only the front edge had any real internal structure for the wood screws to bite into. Fortunately that is also the end of the rail that will take the most weight when the keyboard is in use. I primarily used threaded inserts designed for manufactured wood products. These have coarse threads that bite well into MDF, then accept machine screws. The deep-threaded wood screws included with the hardware pack will also work well, although I prefer threaded inserts for their ability to mount and unmount many times without becoming loose, in case I deiced to remove the keyboard tray.Although not made terribly clear in the manual, the keyboard tray height is adjusted by grabbing the sides with both hands, tilting the platform away from you, then lifting or lowering. The tray is spring counterbalanced. You can also adjust the angle of the tray with a knob underneath. Both adjustments are indicated on angle/distance gauges so you can return to your favorite positions easily (i.e. 7″ elevation, and -5 degrees tilt). The tray can also be rotated side-to-side via the carriage that rides along the track. This may be useful for corner workstations.Speaking of side-to-side rotation, despite taking my time to measure twice and drill once, I thought I had been careless and installed the rail non-square to the front of my desk. The tray was catty-wampus! I double-checked with a square, and thought, huh, that’s weird. It looks OK. Turns out I just needed to rotate the tray a bit, and it took a bit more pressure the first time than I anticipated. Problem solved.Downsides: the nature of the articulated arm and platform level adjustment takes up room under the tray when in the seated position. Your knees may knock into the undercarriage. This is not a concern in the standing position. That’s the only reason I’ll knock one star off and otherwise five-star product.Upsides: heavy duty, reasonably rigid, three degrees of adjustment, and the stand up position is a unique advantage. The height of the tray can be 4″ below to 10″ above and every stop in-between, including level with your desktop if you so desire. With enough room to the side (at least 24″ from centerline), you could even lower and rotate the tray completely sideways under your desk, although I’m not sure why one would need to do that.End result; a very stable platform that doesn’t bounce when I type. While I wouldn’t lean too heavily on the tray, I’m confident enough I can rest my arm weight on the front of the tray. It is very well built. I didn’t think I would want the included wrist-rest, but it is very nice and has a self-adhesive backing, so you can decide whether you want to install it permanently, or not.

Absolutely *THE* best standing workstation option!!!!
This board is high quality (built like a tank) and easy to install. It took me about 20 minutes – though you do need an impact driver or drill. I bought it to convert my desk to an optional standing workstation and it works perfect – goes to the perfect height to type/mouse (though don’t count on an ergonomic mousing/typing experience as your wrists *WILL* be bent at an upward angle still and pose problems for those with tendonitis). For alternation sessions of standing and sitting, this is a fantastic option though.Word of advice: there’s no apparent instructions on how to lower or raise the tray. All you do is tip it forward slightly to freely move it – make sure you do this before trying to move it up or down or you could rip it out of your desk!*Highly recommended!!!!

Excelente acabado, el mecanismo es algo peligroso cuando haces el unboxing, se me quedó atrapado un dedo intentando sin instalarlo de moverlo, pero nada grave sucedió.

  6. Emily

Just like the picture. Sturdy a d well made. Almost industrial quality like my workplace.

This keyboard tray is built of heavy-duty components and is rock solid. The sliding mechanism is smooth and the surface is held steady with no wobbling.I got the easy-adjust version. It works perfectly and allows simple and quick adjustments with everything locking into place effortlessly. Ingenious design. But all of this clever design is ruined by the cheap worksurface. It stinks, like the smell of particle board. It fills the room with a faint smell of industrial glue. The wrist pad is a requirement so your skin doesn’t touch the surface, otherwise your hands and wrist will start to stink just as badly as the surface wears away and deposits itself onto your skin.If this product had a worksurface like what the Ergotron series of products have it would get a slam-dunk 5 star rating.3/5 stars.

  8. Amazon Customer

Installation manual incomprehensible. Product sas missing parts to lock keyboard.

  9. Sierra

The product fit the bill. Allows the user to work sitting or standing up. Wound up buying an additional unit for another coworker.
