I bought a second one
I am an omnibus collector so I shopped around for a bookshelf that could actually hold the weight of the massive books without bowing. I have rows of omnibuses lined up with no shelf sagging and a nice ledge in front to put my funko pops and other knick-knacks. This bookcase’s sturdiness and stability holds up to its value. You’ll find the top of the bookcase isn’t a completely flat surface, but unless you have something that will reflect a ledge along the center running along its width, its unnoticeable. I have plants on top and I don’t notice it at all. It is super easy to install as well, not needing any extensive work done to it. Most of it is just slotting things together. I don’t live anywhere with seismic activity so I didn’t anchor it, so take that into consideration. Overall it has a nice, sleek aesthetic since it is metal. I’d definitely recommend the bookshelf at its discounted/couponed price. I don’t think I’ve ever seen it listed at full price.

The Perfect Shelves
I was a little skeptical about the sturdiness based on the price of these, but holy cow am I thrilled!!To start, these are way easier to put together than I initially thought they’d be when we first opened the boxes. It took me and my boyfriend maybe 40 minutes to put together 2 of these bookshelves. Super easy and fast!I went with these ones specifically because of the customizable shelf sizing because both of us have a number of larger books the just won’t fit on standard shelving. These are perfect for that!They did come with wall mounts, but as these are against our walls and we don’t have any larger pets or kiddos who would be a risk, we chose not to mount them. The shelves are definitely sturdy enough without them for our needs.I could not be happier and will definitely be ordering more when the time comes to expand our shelf space!

Nicely engineered industrial chic
I seldom write praise for products these days but I’ll make and exception for this bookcase. The parts arrived carefully packed in protective foam blocks, the instructions (text and illustrations) were brief but useful and the usual Asian mangling of English was minimal. The enamel finish was flawless (probably electrostatic spray or powder coated) and there were no dings or blemishes even on the back surfaces. No fasteners were required to assemble the bookcase. The sheet metal fabrication was almost certainly the product of a CAD/CAM process because even though tolerances were really tight no interference or force fitting were encountered. Assembly took about 10 minutes and I really admired the “origami” design that resulted in a solid, sturdy piece of furniture with zero wobble or play in the joints. Some people might think the bookcase is clunky-looking but I think that’s a feature not a bug. The strength of the piece is in its engineered 3D folded sheet metal and how the sections slot together in self-tightening tabs and slots. The shelves are in two pieces lengthwise and contribute to the overall strength. (BTW I’m not getting any rewards for this review). I bought the stand-alone unit but I’m sure the sectional option is just as solid.

What I expected
This bookshelf is pretty good. It’s sturdy but it would be nice if the shelf holders were a little taller so that if you have a taller paperback book it will hold them upright better. The unit I received was slightly dented on one of the side panels but these days I don’t expect these type of products to be delivered perfectly. It wasn’t to difficult to put together but if your putting the screws in the top make sure the tops are inserted properly otherwise the screw holes won’t line up. It looks like a metal bookshelf so if you want a cleaner look you might want to go with a REAL wood bookshelf not the fake wood ones.

Simple, sturdy, and looks great
I bought a couple of these to see how I’d like them before buying more. I figured I could hide them away in the storage room for shelves there if nothing else, or maybe in my office if they were a bit better than that. I’m going to buy more, and they’re going in the library at the front of the house. I might get some for those other places too.Assembly is quick for one person. These aren’t as heavy a gauge of metal as Steelcase or Hon. They might take a dent easier if you’re rough around them, but your wallet will take a much smaller dent than with those brands.They look great, they’re sturdy loaded with books, they weigh a lot less than those MDF units, and they should safely disassemble and reassemble for a move. They arrive well packed with the parts nested for a smaller box.

Best customer service I’ve experienced.
I am very happy with the look and quality of these shelves. I did have a missing part issue. This company’s customer service is the BEST. They responded immediately and fixed the issue. I never find this kind of customer service anymore!

Overall good, but it came damaged.
I like these overall. They weren’t hard to assemble and they look good. The main issue I had was one end of the shelves came pretty damaged, return would have been a hassle so I mostly hammered it into shape. It works but for $500 I wish it hadn’t come so damaged. I would have liked a partial refund for the damage.
