Worth it!
Make no mistake. This is no easy job to construct. It took three men about eight hours in one day. That said, I love it. I’ve debated about buying these things for the last few years and I’ve even compared mine to Costco‘s version of this, however I wanted to go all out and get the extra large size and I have no regrets. The screens are perfect. It gives privacy and shade. The louvers are great. The only thing that I would show and I’m not sure if this was a fault during installation or if the piece came like this, but one louver does not close completely. However, I’m gonna use a heat gun and try to fix it. I will Show the pic. Also, there were two screws that did not go flush, but other than that everything fits perfect and it doesn’t seem to throw it off at all but what do I know. everybody who sees it wants one. I was skeptical cause I’ve never even heard of the company, but low and behold, they delivered. I’m hoping it stays like this for years to come but only time will tell.

Fantastic customer service. Contacted me every few days with an update on shipment (freight). Had a few minor items that were damaged that I am waiting to hear from the company to replace. They were minor and based on their customer service so far I am not worried. My wife and I assembled this ourselves just the 2 of us. We did build it in 1/2 vs entire 12×16. Also I painted all the SS screws black with automotive touch up paint because I was not a fan of the silver. I also added smoked light channels and led strip lights to the gutters along with a power strip. This mostly was due to the fact LED strip lights don’t stay in place in the direct sun. I did not use their large concrete anchors for my pavers instead I went with tapcons. Overall this has yet to leak a drop on our patio set. Making it very easy so we don’t have to carry the cushions inside everytime we are done with them. We do live in NYS and I have no doubt in the winter if I open the louvers there will not be an issue with snow buildup.As an engineer I am impressed with how well its built for the money. An American made product similar to this with 1/8” wall extruded aluminum is about 25-35k. Not $3599. We’re talking a factor of 10x more here. Overall this is a nice product and yes $3599 seems expensive but it really is not. We also had pretty high wind gusts around 35mph and I have yet to see a problem. Snow load, won’t do it. 2500lbs is about a few inches at best. Leave the louvers open in the winter if your in a snow belt area.

Review is for a 12’x16’ Mellcom louvered pergola. I was a bit worried buying such an expensive “assembly required” item from Amazon might prove a mistake. I was pleasantly surprised. Received the six box shipment promptly but with some damaged components. Seller Mellcom was prompt with response & providing an acceptable outcome. The half page per step pictograph only directions are organized & well thought out. Several assembly details were slightly confusing & could use enlarged details. All the numerous parts & pieces were labeled, well organized & counts correct. Assembly is quite time consuming. It took me 28 hrs over the course of 5 days to install atop an elevated deck by myself. Overall impressions. For $3700 the pergola appears well constructed, good quality & a good value. Despite the damage bummer,I am very happy with final outcome and would definitely buy again. We had light rain overnight & pergola kept deck dry {until opening louvers :(}. I’ve sincelearned to open louvers very slowly to allow any free standing water in louver troughs to drain before fully opening.The product – 5 Stars,Shipper – 2 Star. damage was a bummer Ultimately Mellcom stood behind their product despite shipping issues – 5 StarThe chrome screws detract from the look & were painted to match pergola’s white color. We will see how this holds up over the winter snow w/ louvers open, but I like what I see this autumn after a month of use.

We were worried to order this with no reviews but it turned out fantastic and seems pretty high quality. Held up to hail well. Was pretty difficult and time consuming to install.
