It went together easily, but you really need to pay close attention to the pictures.
The directions said that it takes two people to put it together but I did it by myself without any problems, as long as I looked closely at the pictures before connecting the shelves to the sides. The locking system made it so easy, and forgiving when I made a mistake. Remember that the ugly side faces out when you put the folded cardboard on the back of your compled shelves. It was attached with little screws instead of little nails. Even though it was more work to attach the cardboard, I appreciated that it would stay on better and longer. The finished product is cute and fits the space perfectly. I am definitely going to attach it to the wall though as it’s a room that my little grandchildren play in. Overall, it was a good value. It is fairly sturdy, though if it were just a little thicker it would be even better.

Beautiful bookcase
Beautiful and easy to put together. Only thing is I wish this shelves were adjustable which they are not they’re fixed in place and you cannot move them up or down. The quality is decent, it’s like $100 so it’s as expected. It’s a good size and looks really nice. Instructions were easy to read and understand too.If looking for a cheap bookcase that looks nice this one is definitely a good a option.

Wanted to love this
One of these stars is for the customer service. They were great sending me a replacement bookshelf after the first one had the wrong parts, but the second one broke in half when we tried to move it. I don’t know what happened, but the instructions were clear, it was easy to put together (took some time, but follow the directions). My Daughter was very excited about this bookshelf and looked everywhere to find the “perfect one”. Nice white finish, exactly what we were looking for, until we ran into the problems. Hopefully yours will work out better! Great price point – just be VERY careful moving it, and support the top portion, and have two of you if you need to move it.

Sturdy and a good finish. Only 9.5 inch deep shelves.
Very easy and quick assembly with clear instructions. One page of the instructions was misprinted but it was clear what the next step was so it wasn’t much issue. No damaged parts and ends up sturdy once built. The backing is thicker than you sometimes get with affordable shelves.Dimensions are a bit misleading as the very top piece is 11.4 inches but the shelves themselves are only 9.5 inches deep. I would’ve like the extra couple inches for what I bought it for (and bought it for that reason) but it’s good enough.

Very low quality materials, avoid this bookcase.
Very low quality items. The particle board seems to be made with a mixture of soft woods and recycled cardboard without enough glue or pressure used during the manufacturing process.The counterbored holes for the cam locks are not very good the bottoms of the holes are uneven and since the wood is so soft most of the cam locks twist or raise up out of the holes rather than pulling the cam lock stud and properly fastening the two pieces of wood together. One of the cam locks pushed through the bottom of the hole creating visible damage on the side of the shelf.The screws, cams locks, and cam lock studs are a very soft metal, very easy to strip out.There are big gaps where the bottom half of the shelf unit meets the top half. The cam locks are also visible on the entire bookcase except for the bottom shelf.Many, many, many years ago I assembled one of these shelves and also various other items and they always used nails to secure the back panel on. This unit uses small screws which I’m guessing was to accommodate the design of the low pressure low quality particle board but even tightening the screws by hand you will find that they will strip before they ever tighten and properly fasten the back on.To the best of my memory this is probably the worst piece of furniture I ever assembled.

Fine, but not great
Bought 3 of these, converted a spare room into a library. Pros: These seem sturdy and sure will be fine bookcases for the price, and they look pretty nice. So far there are two cons: the part indicator in the instructions is blacked out so you really have to match the diagram with the physical parts. Also the back panel is held together with tape that immediately starts to peel off. I fixed it by stapling strips of cardboard over the seams and into the back of the shelves.
