More shelves than nightstand, unless you modify to support more weight.
I should start by saying I love this product and get a lot of use out of it. I use it to display all the fun knick-knacks I get off Amazon. My cat also loves it and hangs out on it constantly, but I’m planning on putting a little bonsai plant there. That being said, the nightstand will not safely support much weight unless you mount it in your wall studs. The problem is, if you’re like me, your studs are too far apart. The mounting points are at the far upper right and left corners of the product, if that helps you calculate the distance. It comes with sleeves for the screws to drill them into drywall, but it feels dubious. I found a special wall between two doorways where the studs are closer together, so I installed it there for maximum weight capacity. The top of the three screws that holds each mounting plate to the back of the nightstand takes a lot of the brunt of the leverage when weight is placed on the shelf. It felt like it was in danger of backing out, so I replaced them with longer screws. You’ll see in my photo I also drilled a hole for some RGB lights. My final verdict is that you probably shouldn’t call something a nightstand unless it can support the weight of what one would typically put on and in a nightstand – a lamp, alarm clock, three books, and some odds and ends. I do not see this shelf safely supporting that without the modifications I mentioned. That being said, I enjoy the way it looks and the space it frees up on the floor; but I would call it a shelf or maybe a deep shadowbox.Ease of Use: Fairly easy to assemble with the included hardware, tools, and instructions. Mounting is a breeze too if your intention is to only mount it into drywall, but it will not be as sturdy as it would be mounted into studs.Quality of Assembly & Materials: Material is your typical furniture-grade particleboard. The included hardware is also fairly standard, with twisting fasteners, wooden dowels, and screws that strip to prevent you from overtightening them.Value for Price: Not a great value if you’re looking for all the functionality of a standard nightstand. It’s too shallow and doesn’t support enough weight. However, getting two of them and expecting more of a shelf, you’ll find it’s actually a really good value.Packaging & Presentation: Packaged like your standard assemble-at-home furniture, in a small, heavy box.PROS- A good place to display knick-knacks- Easy to assemble and install- looks handsome and modernCONS- The finish is just okay on the edges- The pre-cut pieces don’t alight perfectly- You could buy a sturdier nightstand for the money (but maybe not two).

Nice Sturdy Product and Looks Nice
I like these a lot. They were super easy to put together and they are a great option especially if you’re in a place with limited space like an apartment. They have a very sturdy feel to them, which is always appreciated. If I could change one thing, I would make it so the part you screw into the wall was on the bottom so it truly looked “floating”, but I don’t know if that’s actually possible, so I won’t ding it for that. Overall a very nice option.

Nice deep black hanging shelves for a Dorm or First Apartment
This pair of deep black floating dual shelves are relatively simple to assemble. (Granted, I assemble a lot of these type of things, but still, the directions were relatively forthright.) That said, I wasn’t impressed by how the use of the barrel locks worked to hold the top to the sides of the stand. I could never get it those to be super stable, but it wasn’t really offputting because the remainder of the structure gave it the boost of stability it needed. It looks like what it is. . . something appropriate for a first apartment or a dorm room. This isn’t something for an office. The quality is the type of the typical particle board do-it-yourself furniture you’d pick up at the local discount big box store to put together. They look nice enough for an apartment or dorm. Probably not something for mom and dad’s bedroom. The size, though, is right for hanging beside a bed to hold a small lamp or a phone.

Perfect Size for Small Spaces, but Ugly Hardware
Before I found these floating shelves, the space on one side of my bed (see pic) was too small to put any kind of table or nightstand on without interfering with the door. These fit perfectly in that space. I chose to put them close together, so I don’t get much use out of the top of the lower shelf, but I don’t need it in this case. I’m just happy to have some extra cubbies to hold my things. These are easy to put together and even easier to hang, but the ease of the hanging mechanism has its drawbacks in the aesthetics. It’s definitely ugly to see the mounting parts above the shelf. You’ll notice the deception in the product pictures themselves, they’ve removed the mounting pieces from the pictures because they don’t look good. The designers need to come up with a way to hide the mounts behind the shelf. Deceiving people into buying something that looks different on the customer’s wall than what’s portrayed in the product pictures is a breach of trust.Another poor choice in the design was putting enormous stickers in the very middle of the side of the cubby that is visible. The stickers left a residue that is still on there. Do you really need a sticker that large to display the date it was made and the country it was made in? I don’t care when or where it was made, at all. Not even a little tiny bit. But I care that I have residue on my furniture that could have easily been avoided – even by just putting the sticker on the part of the board that would be facing the floor would have been fine. It’s just common sense.SO, one star for a lack of attention to the design insofar as its reflection on the aesthetics of the piece. And one star for the deception in the product photos (digitally hiding the ugly wall hangers). That’s a serious blunder – people should know what they’re buying. I’m going to let the sticker issue slide, but shunning attention to small details like the residue from the stickers keeps things mediocre that could be great, and it’s such an obvious and inexpensive change to make. In fact it wouldn’t cost anything.
