    Great quality for the price
This tray works GREAT if your desk has an “apron” (or support beam) that is parallel with the edge of the desk. Most trays won’t work because they use clamps, and that bar gets in the way. This works great because you can move it as close or as far as you want/need. It glides great, and there is minimal “building” required. Although I do recommend having an extra hand when you’re attaching the support bars to the tray (the part that you screw into the desk), as well as when you’re installing it on the desk.Definitely recommend! My keyboard is a standard, 104 key layout (approximately 17.7″x6.6″x0.8″) and it fits just right.

Surprisingly sturdy and smooth sliding drawer
I needed a new under-desk keyboard drawer for a new office desk. There are lots to choose from, but I just needed a basic drawer to hide a wired keyboard. Well, I have two keyboards connected to my PC, one wired and one Bluetooth. This Kensington basic drawer just serves my purpose well by the product description. I ordered a Like-New condition from Amazon Resale because I wanted to save even more. Well, when I received the keyboard, the original box was beaten-up and some parts were missing. Even there was a return slip from the previous buyer inside the box. Amazon Resale should check the contents carefully if they want to sell as Like-New. I was ticked off and thought about returning.Anyway, missing parts were plastic spacers to install the mounting bracket to the drawer. I decided to try this drawer and I just cut plastic tube about ¼ to 5/8 inch to make spacers. Assembly of the drawer and the slide is easy but the machine screw to install the mounting bracket through the spacer to the slide is very short.Drilling 4 pilot holes for mounting screws under the desk is not a simple task. You may need another person to hold to mark the hole locations or make a paper template using the pre-assembled drawer. The product dimension in the description is 20.4x12x1.5 inches, but you need a minimum of 23 inch lengthwise including the mounting brackets both ends. Be warned if your under-desk opening is less than 23 inches, this drawer won’t work.Initially, it looks flimsy and cheaply, but once mounted the drawer is not flimsy at all and slides smooth in and out. The drawer space is large enough to accommodate most full size keyboards and some small stuff. My keyboard in the photo is a very big full size keyboard and it fits perfectly.Overall, this Kensington basic keyboard drawer works as it claims. It’s a basic plastic (very plasticky) drawer, but the price is very reasonable. You can even save an extra buck or two buying from the Amazon Resale. I could have docked a star for missing parts, but didn’t.

Ok for what I use it for
Nothing fancy, ok for price. Works at my hobby desk. Main issue I had was the screws kept loosening at every junction. I put it on a very cheap desk and don’t plan on moving it so I just put glue in the problem areas/screw holes so the screws would stop loosening and then it was fine. It was easy to put together besides the loose screw problem. Multiple people in the house hold tried tightening them because I thought it was just me but they would go from super tight to loose almost immediately no matter who tried that’s when I got the glue.

    I like it OK.
The tray is too deep, so the outer edge keeps the heels of my hands too high. I have to push the keyboard to the back of the tray in order to type comfortably. Otherwise, I like it OK. In order to install it, I taped two sheets of copy paper together, and in turn, taped them to the underside of the desktop, centering it from right to left. I attached the brackets to the tray and held it in the position I wanted, marked the screw hole placement on the paper, and drilled through it. Then I screwed the tray into position. I’m old, so getting down on the floor to do the marking and drilling wasn’t easy, but was able to screw it into the predrilled holes when I was sitting in my desk chair using the “braille” method of locating the holes to place the screws.

    Waste of time & money
Ultra flimsy. Difficult to mount and keep square so that tray will slide out evenly. Screws holding slide mechanism to tray won’t stay tight. A waste of money. Will return.

Great drawer for a narrow space.
I’m a big fan of keyboard trays. For my current desk, I only had a 22 inch space to install the tray. When this tray arrived, I realized that – using the standard installation – it would not fit. But I was able to modify the installation in order to make it work (see photos to get an idea). If works great, and I have no issues with it at all.Just note that if you want to place a full-size keyboard and mouse on your tray, then this product is not suitable for that.

    Measure well.
I didn’t account for an extra edge on my desk and had to add washers and longer screws for the drawer to be able to pull out all the way. That’s totally my fault. The tiny screws that attach the brackets to the glides have come out continually. So I added locktite super glue to them. These adjustments have allowed this to be a very sturdy and fully functional keyboard drawer.I recommend making a template for where to screw in underneath the desk. It is very challenging to get it placed evenly.

Couldn’t get this to attach securely. Can’t type on a wobbly keypad.

This keyboard tray is great. Good value, seems sturdy enough. It was VERY TRICKY to install. But I did manage to do it by myself in only one hour of frustration. The first half hour I wasted on perfectly straight measurements which got me a crooked keyboard tray that wouldn’t even pull out as a drawer. My second attempt (which seemed really crooked to me) worked out perfect. Here’s how I did it: Installation will go fine for you if you do three things: rip up the box and make yourself a template of where the screw holes should be, tape the drawer mechanism closed (temporarily) so there’s less movement when you install, and use an electric drill to pre-drill the holes (using the template) underneath your desk. You will be happy with your keyboard tray in the end. Good luck!

Like the fact that my larger Microsoft wireless keyboard fits right inside this tray. Tricky to install under a desk, must have a second pair of hands, and a screwhole template to drill starter holes in the precise locations under said desk while working on your back. The screws were also a touch too long for the thickness of my desk, so a thin block of wood was needed in between the rail and the desk bottom so the screw tip wouldn’t poke through, or, barring that, shorter screws that still have enough bite into the wood to hold.Need patience and maybe a little hack knowledge to install. Now that it’s installed, works great … but don’t EVER lean on it, or place something heavy on it (why would you anyway?).

easy to install, sturdy, easy to use and helps create more space on desk surfaces.

  13. Customer

decent design, hardware is flimsy, and the brackets need to be labeled left and right side because they are different…they fit either side, but they really need to have the longer sliding action forward. Otherwise, decent.
